Wärtsilä has signed a five-year Operation & Maintenance (O&M) agreement with Nigeria's Lafarge Africa Plc. The agreement covers the 100MW Lafarge Ewekoro power plant and is an extension of a previous 10-year agreement. The captive Ewekoro plant was supplied and commissioned by Wärtsilä in 2011. Gujarat Sidhee Cement to shut clinker line for maintenance

India’s Gujarat Sidhee Cement is planning to shut down the clinker line at its Sidheegram plant for annual maintenance, which is expected to take a period of 17-20 days to complete.   However, cement grinding and dispatches are still planned to continue.

According to Uzbekistan’s Antimonopoly Committee, Akhangarancement announced the failure of two rotary kilns on 7 October. As a result, the company’s cement volumes offered for sale decreased on average from 7000 to 5000tpd. Almalyk MMC’s Jizzakh cement plant has also seen its production volumes decrease from 11,000 to 5000tpd on average, due to ongoing repairs on its kiln. Cementarna Trbovlje seeks to resume operations

Slovenia’s Cementarna Trbovlje (LafargeHolcim) has requested an environmental permit from the country’s authorities to resume cement grinding, storage and dispatch, according to Delo. The company lost its environmental permit in 2014 and halted operations in February 2015. As the plant is not expected to produce raw materials, it will buy them alongside cement additives. The producer was once the second-largest on the domestic market with a capacity of 0.52Mta.
